Latest Updates from Our Project:

More Distribution! (Also errata)
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 23, 2019 at 03:10:59 AM

The PDF files for That Other Game were sent out today.

I continue to get great proofreading feedback, and it continues to be great. A few things:

  • The big one is I know I duplicated the text for two of the dragonkin (the Mysterious); will fix
  • I got a nudge - a correct one - that the local area map is missing. That's totally my bad. Fix will be something like this, but Glynn is working on a new map for me, he says by Thursday. I had to carve out a lot of text to get this in here, but it was mostly fluff and snark, so hopefully it won't be missed as much as the book gains by the map's presence.
  • My artists are still working; one suffered an HDD failure but is on it nonetheless. The rest should have it all by this weekend.
  • The big thing is STILL to index and hyperlink and expand the glossary; I could still use suggestions for that.

The other big news is I'm moving on Wednesday. So I might be a bit hit-and-miss, but I did all I could to guarantee continuity of computer access during the move. I hope it works.

So still on schedule I think to get files out by the end of the month.

Preliminary PDF File sent via Backerkit!

Check your email from Backerkit, because there should be something in it!

This is the "pre-final" version of the PDF for Citadel. I intend the files to head off to the printer April 29 or April 30. This isn't QUITE done:

  • I had an artist have an HDD failure, so some of the art is WIP rather than final. This is being actively worked and I have no doubts as to completion and quality.
  • There are three outstanding images being worked on beyond that
  • I need to finish the glossary
  • I need to put in hyperlinks and cross-references
  • I need to do the index

I'll be working all of those over the next week, with the help of rather many keen and interested eyes. Nonetheless, this should give you more than a rough feel for the book!

Prelim file to be sent out shortly
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 21, 2019 at 05:30:22 PM

It's not done done. But I just received some placeholder art, and that makes up most of what was missing. The artist had an HDD failure, so the resulting images are low resolution for now (you won't be able to tell on the PDF output from a resolution perspective, but the images will improve over the next week).

In any case, I'm going to spool out a prelim file and get it out to you guys in the next hour.

So . . . now I need your help.

  • Please read it and look for typos and WTF moments, and send your findings to [email protected]. You CAN reply here . . . but it's not optimal.
  • There aren't THAT many rules, but if you find any errors, let me know
  • Check the monster stats and make sure they're consistent with the Dungeon Fantasy RPG books (the core set, traps, and magic items) plus Fantastic Dungeon Grappling. There are MANY moving parts to these, and they're easy to miss bits
  • You'll note the index and links are not yet done. I would appreciate suggestions on what you think should be linked. You'll note that I have a single page for the index, and no further room. So while I'd love to index every jot and tiddle . . . I can't. So hit me with what you think are the absolute must-haves. I will of course be doing this as well, as I'm the author and publisher and it's my dang job. But a little help would not go amiss.
  •  Lastly, the glossary of pronunciation is incomplete as well. If you catch some faux-Norse/Icelandic or Faerie Welsh that you want explicated, let me know.

My intent is to get all of this input from y'all and get the file off to the printer April 29 or April 30.

Preliminary Review Copy: Hall of Judgment (2nd Edition)
about 5 years ago – Sat, Apr 20, 2019 at 10:18:02 PM

As the new Preface spells out, because the new new maps and other things has happened since the first release of HoJ (not to mention a price increase to bring it in line with Citadel), Hall of Judgment is going to be updated and made into a Second Edition, with a new ISBN.

I'm about to distribute a copy of my preliminary version to all of the Kickstarter backers who ordered HoJ this time around, plus all of those who got Hall of Judgment from the prior Kickstarter.

If you have the time, I'd surely appreciate a read-through to check for errors and typos and stuff before it goes to print in about 10 days!

Hall of Judgment (2nd Edition) - new cover or old cover?
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 19, 2019 at 06:39:33 PM

I'll be getting to work updating Hall of Judgment with the new maps. As I've noted before, the addition of the new maps, different binding style (lay-flat sewn rather than perfect bound) will make the new book effectively a second edition.

So . . . question to you folks. Should I go with the same cover I used for Lost Hall of Tyr 2.0, or the existing HoJ cover (which was the same for the original Lost Hall 1.0)?

I'm going to throw up a Google Form: https://forms.gle/DrJKS5CpXHzGh3xt5

If you really hate Google Forms, or just want to amplify on why you like/don't like something, you can reply here.

The choices. Obviously the text and blurb will match the current Hall of Judgment. A "Second Edition" will be prominently featured on the new book (as with Lost Hall 2.0). So just consider the image.
