Orders Locked and Cards Charged!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 19, 2019 at 06:38:31 PM

Locking Orders

So, today is the day! I have locked everyone's responses who have actually responded. That leaves 29 surveys incomplete, and (most importantly) 11 people who have physical product but have not completed the survey, and updated an address.

I can't send you your physical goods without a shipping address!

Charging Cards

Most - in fact, all but 10 - of the successfully-locked orders have also had your cards charged. That's 566 people . . . woot! If you're one of the 10, you'll get an email from Backerkit to look into it.

First Distribution: Fantastic Dungeon Grappling!

I'm still working on Norðvorn . . . but anyone who ordered Fantastic Dungeon Grappling will be seeing a note from me later today with the PDF in their email box.

I will then try and quickly clean up Hall of Judgment, and get that ready to print. Again, that'll be in the next day or two.

So that begins the fulfillment phase. When all the initial PDFs are out, I'll take corrections and errata for a week or so, get the finalization, and then print!

The good news is I got my UK VAT number, which means I can now import and distribute things for International folks per my original plan. That was a wrinkle, but one that's been smoothed. It impacted my prior Lost Hall of Tyr (2nd Edition) final phase more than y'all. But those books ship - after many trials and tribulations - this coming Tuesday!

I will be moving to finalize an order with my printer ASAP, and get things moving. It takes two weeks to order the paper . . . and I'm using the same paper throughout. That means the paper should be in hand May 6, so if I can get final files to them May 3, that satisfies the "no hiccups, no delays" staging. I will be attempting to get finals to them a few days earlier, but that's where we stand.

Kickstarter Backer List: Take 2
about 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 18, 2019 at 01:46:34 AM

As the document heads towards finalization over the next week, now is the second time to check and make sure your Kickstarter Backer attribution is correct.

Many of you have gotten back to me already: please validate I got it right.

Some of you have not, and of course several KS backers are still listed as Guest1925483 or something.

Remember: I have no idea what your real name is. The only info that comes to me is from the Kickstarter user ID. If you want more - or less - credit in the book, you need to reach out to me and correct what's there, or otherwise tell me. The link below takes you to my Google Drive, where you can download a PDF of the backer list pages.

Backerkit closes FRIDAY
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 17, 2019 at 04:04:19 PM

Backerkit Closing and Charging Cards

This Friday - and in the morning, not the evening - I'll lock orders and charge cards. There are about 45 folks whose surveys are incomplete, some with physical orders. I'll be sending a reminder to those folks shortly. Once that's all done, I can get you your stuff, including PDFs as they become available.

Please take the time - it should be minimal - to get that taken care of. Then it's all on my to get you your goods.

Progress Report

Things are progressing. I'm a little insane right now because we're buying a house next week and trying to take care of 15 years of "we'll take care of this eventually" in the next fortnight. So if I'm less chatty than usual, it's probably because I'm on the phone.

Still: the final art pieces are coming in. I'm now much more "I've got them" than "I need them," which is a good place to be. I'm expecting the final pieces - some of which are done but we're having file save glitches - to be inserted by the end of the week. Two pieces remain unassigned but are being vetted with artists now.

What that leaves is a deep dive through the book, doing hyperlinks, indexing, and putting together the final list of rumors. Also seeing if I can tweak out the monsters section to highlight the new guys rather than the old guys.

After that, you should get the prelim file. And of course I need to tweak out and re-export Hall of Judgment and upload Fantastic Dungeon Grappling. HoJ will effectively, as I've said, be a 2nd Edition, because new maps, content changes to be compatible with FDG, and the new binding style from the offset print run (and a price increase for those not in this Kickstarter) make it different enough to qualify. Glad I bought 100 ISBNs earlier this year!

So I do expect to start sending out files early next week. Then I'd ask y'all to go over them with a keen, fresh eye and see if I messed up anywhere. I'll fix those, and then set about getting them printed!

Bookmark proofs arrived!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 16, 2019 at 01:03:59 AM

I got two packages today.

The first was a proof (actually, about 40 proofs; I think I ordered 25) of the bookmarks in their 5-sheet format. I cut them to see how the alignment worked out, and deem them satisfactory.

You can see I filled out "Thog's" card with some numbers. Then I left them alone for a while and came back and wiped off the ink . . . and the dry-erase marker came right off. So these are good. Yay!

For the shield-guard, plus a few shields left over from Lost Hall of Tyr . . . your calf skin for the facing and backing of your shields also arrived from Pakistan. Woot!

I'm going to be going a bit dark next week. I've got something big happening at home, and so from Wednesday through the following Monday, I might be a bit scarce.

Nonetheless . . . I'm hoping to get a prelim file out on the 22nd or 23rd. Files, actually. Hall of Judgment, Fantastic Dungeon Grappling (that one's completely ready I think), and of course Citadel. It will be as complete as I can make it, but I'll give you fine folks about a week to tell me what you think I missed in terms of errata. I'll make sure it's clear what's errata ("you spelled X wrong," "this rule is on p. 34 of Exploits, not p. 35-36," and errors of verifiable fact) and what's not ("you should have done this differently," and "this encounter is unfair!" or "the book should have more of X and less of Y" are all things that aren't errors, even if true.

So . . . still working a lot behind the scenes, and with luck, you'll have a file in hand in seven days.
