FNORDCon!
about 5 years ago – Sat, Apr 06, 2019 at 01:25:37 AM

I'm headed out to FNORDCon today, back Sunday night. So I'll be a bit thin on the ground here . . . but if you're there, well, if there's Dungeon Fantasy to be played, you'll be playing it with either me or Kyle Norton. And two of those games are playtest sessions for the Dragons of Rosgarth . . . the next Norðlond adventure!

We hope to see you there!

DUNGEON FANTASY

We’re excited to have Douglas Cole and Kyle Norton from Gaming Ballistic to run Dungeon Fantasy scenarios all weekend! Here’s a short description of the scenarios being run:

Hall of Judgment: Journey from the Norðlond town of Isfjall to the ruins of Logiheimli, seeking the location of the lost Hall of Judgment. Battle undead, speak with lost heroes, and if you're lucky, find the Hall itself. Available in limited quantities at the show! (Douglas, 10 a.m. Sat.)

Citadel at Nordvorn: The dwarf-wrought Citadel at Nordvorn anchors Audreyn's Wall against threats from the faerie-plagued Hunted Lands, as well as the Dragon grounds. For centuries it has stood firm against external threats . . . but it currently faces disaster from within. Can the PCs unravel the mysteries brewing at Nordvorn? (Douglas, 10 a.m. Sun.)

The Dragons of Rosgarth: A new dragon has taken up residence in the Ruins of Rosgarth and gathered an army around him.  The army must be dispersed before they attack Nordlond! The game begins following a stealthy journey to within sight of the dragon's fortress at the Ruins. What happens after that is up to you. Seize the opportunity to play The Dragons of Rosgarth *before* it's even released! (Kyle, 3 p.m. Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.)

Each to-do gets to-done. One at a time. This may not be the final form, but it's close.

Add-on Shipping Adjusted
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 03, 2019 at 07:09:57 PM

I have spoken with Backerkit, and they showed me the right way to fix the issue. For most people, adding bookmarks and/or a copy of Fantastic Dungeon Grappling to an existing order will increase your base shipping by $0-1, which is a handling fee for order picking by fulfillment. The multiple stacking of "base" add-on shipping has been removed.

That should help with just about everyone; if there are still issues, ping me and I'll take a look and see if something got missed.

Thanks for your patience on this!

Nearly Half Surveys Complete! Also: BUNDLE UP
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 03, 2019 at 02:35:22 PM

Survey Completion

We've got 46% of the surveys complete in the first day. That's really excellent.

Bundle Up

I took a look at the add-ons, and Fantastic Dungeon Grappling is the #1, #2, and #3 spot.

That means (and I checked) that folks that did their survey and added Fantastic Dungeon Grappling as separate Print + PDF add-ons are overpaying by $2. What you want to do is look for the section of the shop labled BUNDLES, and add the promised $9 bundle for Fantastic Dungeon Grappling.

That's true of FDG, but it may also be true of other books. If you popped in a print AND a pdf copy of ANY of my products together (such as Hall of Judgment or Dragon Heresy), unless you chose the bundle you're over-paying. Stop it. :-)

Shipping Oddities

If you added some of the smaller products as add-ons, you might be surprised to see how much shipping is being added. That did not work like I thought it would, and my tests of the cart process didn't reveal that issue. That's on me.

I'm going to chat with Backerkit later today and see if there's anything to be done about it. What's happening is that the Add-Ons are being treated as a completely separate order. That's true if you're only coming to the table with PDFs (maybe 1/3 of y'all, or a bit less), but for print folks you pay the "first pound/first 500g" start-up fees on shipping and handling TWICE. For US folks that adds about $3-5 to the total, which is not entirely cool when your physical book is $7 (that being said, the base shipping fee for a single copy of FDG, which is thin enough to go by large letter rates, is $4-5 by itself; so it's not WRONG, it's just that when you add a couple-ounce book to something already going by media mail...the shipping part of it shouldn't go up, because you're going from about 1.3 lbs to 1.6 lbs or something).

For the Canucks out there, it's the worst, because the start-up fee is $21. That's rather a lot for a $7 book.

I'm working the problem, but might need Backerkit's help to resolve it. For very good reasons, I can't change the shipping fees - even to lower them! - once orders have been placed. You can see why. But I'm hopeful the administrators can help me out. I'll update folks on this as I get new information.

Add-on Shipping Oddities
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 03, 2019 at 02:15:37 AM

There's a problem adding add-ons. When you've already got physical goods in your cart, Backerkit's treating your add-ons as a separate order. That's fine if you're upgrading from PDF; not so much if you're already got Nordvorn or something else shippable in your cart.

I'm aware of the issue, and am looking for a systematic fix, with an email in to Backerkit to see if I can address the issue. Worst, painful case I can fix it manually.
